Heat milk till scalding. Add lard, salt, egg and sugar to milk. Cool before adding yeast. Use a small amount of sugar (from 1/8 cup) to help dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. water. Add flour.

Knead till blisters form and dough holds its shape. Put in warm place to rise (no breeze) and cover with a towel. It should double in size. Let dough rise for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

A favorite with every family member and especially good while the biscuits are still warm with butter and homemade jelly. Dad likes it with cheese!
