1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. all bran cereal
1 1/2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
2 T. water
1 t. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add bran and mix thoroughly. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and soda; add nuts. Add to bran mixture alternately with mashed bananas to which the water has been added. Stir in vanilla. Pour into oiled loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.
