1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cornmeal
2 t. baking powder
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 t. salt
1 1/4 cups milk
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400. In medium mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add milk, shortening and egg. Mix until just combined. Grease 8 x 8 inch baking dish. Pour batter into dish. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Cool slightly. Using sharp knife, slice into 9 squares.
