1 C Flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. powdered sugar (optional)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 C milk (may need more if batter too thick)
1 egg well beaten
2 med Granny Smith apples sliced very thin

Directions:
Directions:
Add dry ingredients to bowl and mix well.
Beat eggs and milk together.
Add to dry ingredients until you have a smooth batter. Add sliced apples.
Drop batter into hot oil and fry slowly, turning once.
Drain on paper towels. Serve with syrup or powdered sugar.

I fondly recall from my Pennsylvania childhood this being one of the favorite dishes my mother would cook. Some recipies call for sugar but I leave that out as it accelerates browning before the fritters are finished frying. Granny Smith apples are a must. Enjoy.
