"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for PIES/Brownie Pie, by Marilee Larkey, is from Mom Loves to Cook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
3 egg whites Dash of salt 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup crushed chocolate Oreo cookies 1/2 cup chopped nuts 1/2 t. vanilla 9 ounce container Cool Whip
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in chocolate crumbs, nuts and vanilla. Spread evenly in lightly buttered 9-inch pie plate. Bake in 325º oven for 35 minutes. Cool thoroughly and spread with Cool Whip. Sprinkle crushed wafers on top. Chill for 3-4 hours.
This was a recipe I made many times when I was first married. It was very popular.
