Mom's Fresh Strawberry Pie Recipe

1 cup sugar
6 tsp cornstarch
dash of salt
1 cup water
4 Tblsp strawberry jello
1 quart fresh whole strawberries, cleaned & stemmed
1 baked pie shell
1-8 oz tub Cool Whip

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt. Add water. Cook in pan over medium heat until clear. Add jello and stir until dissolved. Cool. Pour over strawberries in bowl. Stir gently. Refrigerate until chilled, but not set-up. Pour strawberry mixture into cooled pie shell and refrigerate. Top with Cool Whip. Slice and serve.

This is Grandma (Marilyn) Neiswender's recipe from 1979. It's the bestest (yes, I meant bestest!) fresh strawberry pie ever!!
