5 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda 1-3 tsp. baking powder 1/4 c. sugar 2 envelopes yeast 2-3 T warm water 1 c. liquid shortening 2 c. buttermilk
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar and mix all other ingredients except flour and buttermilk. Add yeast mixture. Add flour and buttermilk alternately. Set in refrigerator. When ready to use, roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Let rise for 3 hours and bake at 400º.
