10 oz lasagna noodles – cooked, drained and rinsed in cold water

Meat Sauce:
½ lb Sausage
1 ½ lb lean hamburger meat
1 tsp garlic
1 Tbsp basil
1 ½ tsp salt
2 cups chopped tomatoes
12 oz tomato paste
12 oz water (use tomato paste can/s)

Brown meat slowly, drain. Add remaining ingredients and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes. Stirring occasionally.

Cheese Filling:
24 oz ricotta or creamy cottage cheese
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp parsley flakes
2 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
2 eggs – well beaten

Mix all together.

1 lb grated mozzarella cheese – do not mix with rest of cheese filling

Place a layer of noodles in 13x9x2 baking dish which you have first spooned a few tablespoons of sauce on bottom first. Spread a layer of cheese filling on top of noodles, sprinkle part of mozzarella cheese, then top with portion of meat sauce. Repeat layers.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
