1½ gal. sliced cucumbers
2 gal. water
1 2/3 c pickling lime
½ gal. white vinegar
10½ c or 4 ½ lb sugar
1 Tbsp salt
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp celery seed
2 Tbsp mixed pickling spice
Green food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Mix lime in water and pour over cucumbers in large jar: let stand in lime water for 24 hours. Wash cucumbers in clear water for 3 hours and drain well. Put remaining ingredients in saucepan. Stir and pour over cucumbers cold. Let stand for 24 hours or overnight. Next morning, boil cucumbers and juice for 40 minutes and pack in sterilized jars and seal. The cucumbers will look transparent.
