2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple, including liquid
Dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
cup flaked coconut
cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 baking pan. Combine sugar, flour, eggs, soda, pineapple (including liquid) salt and vanilla in large mixing bowl. Stir with a fork until well blended. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes.

Note: this cake does not call for shortening, oil or liquid (other than liquid from pineapple).

About 5 minutes before removing cake from oven, mix margarine, sugar, milk and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Let boil 3-5 minutes. Add coconut and nuts. Pour over cake as soon as it is removed from the oven.
