1 cup evaporated milk or heavy cream
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first five ingredients in medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens -- about 12 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in coconut and pecans. Cool until of spreading consistency. To speed cooling, place plastic wrap on the surface of the mixture and put pot in the refrigerator.

When cake and filling have cooled, spread filling between the layers and on top of a German Chocolate Cake (see recipe); do not cover sides.
