1 1/2 c. dates
1 1/2 c. hot water
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine all of the ingredients. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes before baking. Grease and flour the bread pan. Pour in mixture. Bake at 350 for 60 - 70 minutes.
