Sourdough Bread Starter Recipe

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water

1 medium potato
3 1/2 c. water

1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:

Soften yeast in 1/2 cup warm water.

Wash, peel and boil potato in 3 1/2 cups water.

Drain (save the water) and mash potato.

Add sugar and salt to saved potato water. Set aside and let cool until lukewarm.

Add yeast and cooled cooked potato to water mixture.

Put in jar in a warm place overnight.

Refrigerate next morning for 24 hours.

Take out 1 cup of starter and use to make bread or discard. Feed starter in jar.
