1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. soda in 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped dates
1 lb. orange slice candy, chopped
2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup coconut
3 1/2 cups plain flour

Directions:
Directions:
Sprinkle the chopped orange candy with part of the flour (1/2 cup or so). Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add buttermilk alternately with flour. Add coconut, pecans and candy. Pour into prepared tube pan. Bake 2 1/2 hours at 275.

When cake is almost done, make a glaze of 1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar and 1/3 cup orange juice. Heat until sugar is melted. Pour glaze over hot cake.
