2 sticks butter or margarine
1 2/3 cups sugar
5 eggs
2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Soften butter or margarine to room temperature. Beat until light. Add sugar and beat at high speed until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one. Add flour and flavoring and beat until fluffy. Bake in tube pan at 300 degrees for one hour. Do not open oven, or it will fall.

This recipe came from Linnie C. (Smith) Allen - aka - Mama. This recipe has no milk but it was a favorite of hers. She kept one baked, most of the time, in her later years...from Helen Cannady.
