2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs. Make a well in the center. Add buttermilk all at once. Stir until dough just clings together. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
