1 lb ground beef
1 cup buttermilk or extra light pancake and waffle mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 1/4 cups (10 1/2-oz) condensed onion soup.

Sauce:
Reserved condensed onion soup
1 package (5/8-oz) homestyle or brown gravy mix
1/2 cup water

Directions:

Lightly grease 1 or 1 1/2 quart shallow round casserole. Brown ground beef; drain. Season to taste. In medium mixing bowl combine pancake mix, eggs, milk and 2/3 cup soup (reserving remaining soup for sauce). Beat until smooth. Place meat in prepared casserole. Pour batter evenly over meat. Bake at 425 for 20 - 25 minutes until crust is golden brown. Prepare sauce. Serve hot with sauce.

Sauce: In small saucepan combine the reserved onion soup mix, gravy mix, and water. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
