1 1/2 lbs steak, cut in small pieces
3/4 cup diced onions
1/2 cup celery
1/4 cup butter
2 tbsp crisco
1 1/2 cups hot water
Salt and Pepper

Thickening:
1/3 cup cold water
2 tbsp corn starch
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and crisco. Add meat and brown. Add onion. Put on lid and cook on low heat for 10 minutes. Add celery, salt, pepper and hot water. Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes. Add thickening to sauce. Cook slowly for 15 minutes. Serve over cooked rice.

This is the most used-looking recipe in the whole recipe box. Actually, there are two copies of this recipe and both are very worn and splattered. And, personally, my very favorite meal. This was and is my first choice for birthday dinners.
