Directions:
Put warm water in large mixing bowl, add yeast stir to soften, add sugar, stir until dissolved. Add 3 cups flour and beat well. Add eggs beat again. Add shortening and salt and beat until smooth. Gradually add remainder of flour, saving about 1/2 cup for the bread board, for kneading and tossing. Knead and toss until elastic and smooth, let rise until double in bulk. Roll out on floured board to 1/2" to 5/8" thickness. Brush with melted butter or margarine. Sprinkle lightly with garlic salt or put the garlic salt in the melted butter and brush on (about 1/4 tsp. garlic salt). Sprinkle generously with oregano leaves (finely crushed) and sprinkle evenly over all, 3 tbsp Parmesan cheese (grated). Cut into strips about 1-3/4" wide. Put 3 strips together one on top of the other, with cheese sides inside. Cut each 3 strip section into pieces 1-3/4" long. Put these pieces upright into small greased muffin tins. If muffin tins are large, 4 strips many be put together and cut in 1-3/4" lengths to make a nicer shaped roll. Let rise until double in bulk. bake at 375º, for about 15 minutes.
