1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp soda
1 pkg dates or 1 can cherries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
Boil dates (or cherries), sugar and water together until thick. Put soda with flour and oatmeal. Mix with brown sugar and then combine with butter like mixing pie crust. Put half mixture in bottom of loaf pan lined with waxed paper. Spread with cooled dates mixture and top with remaining crumbs. Bake at 350 until brown. Serve with whip cream.
