1c butter or margarine, 1 c firmly packed brown sugar, 1/2 c granulated sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 1/2 c all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/2 tsp.salt, 3 c oatmeal, 1 cup chocolate chips or raisins.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat together butter and sugars until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate chips or raisins; mix well. Drop by rounded T. onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet.

You can make bar cookies: Bake 30 to 35 minutes in ungreased 13 x 9 inch metal pan.
