1 c. brown sugar
1 c. dark molasses
1 c. butter
1 t. baking soda dissolved in 1/3 c. water
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. ginger
1/2 t. salt
4 c. all-purpose flour

Directions:
Directions:
Add first 3 ingredients and bring to a boil. Add soda, spices, and lastly flour. Chill 8 hours or overnight. Roll out to 1/8" thickness and cut out men. Bake at 350. Cool slightly, remove from cookie sheet.

I line the cookie sheet with parchment paper and just slide the parchment on to the counter to cool. I have made these for gifts since the 1970's.
