Ingredients:  
1/2 cup butter or margerine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 2/3 cups sifted plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped nuts
grated rind of 1 lemon

Glaze:
1/4 cup sugar; juice of 1 lemon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Sift flour w/salt and baking powder. Alternately, add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture, beating constantly. Stir in nuts and lemon rind. Pour into greased 9x5 loaf pan. Bake 350º for 50 mins.
Glaze:
Combine sugar and lemon juice. Prick hot bread with toothpick and pour on glaze. Let sink into bread. Remove bread from pan. Allow to cool.

Can substitute orange juice and rind for lemon. Good toasted with butter - serve for breakfast.
