1/2 c. butter (soft)
1 c. sugar
1 large egg
2 - 2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter and sugar. Blend in egg and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add.
Roll dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut with cutters of choice. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375F.
To paint cookies:
Mix 1 c. confectioners' sugar and 5-6 tbsp. water. Color with food coloring and paint.
Makes 2 dozen cookies. Can be doubled.
