6 eggs
2 cups sugar
9 tablespoons cracker crumbs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pound English walnuts
½ pound dates, cut in half.

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks well. Add sugar, cracker crumbs, baking powder, nuts and dates. Mix well and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites last. Cook slowly 1¼ hours. Serve with whipped cream.

Catherine, Robert (Bob) Butler Mealing's first wife, and mother of Frances, Catherine and Nell, died a few years after the 1929 cookbook was published. There were seven of her recipes in the book.
