4 c flour
4-8 T sugar
6 tsp baking powder
12-16 T shortening
11/3 c milk
2 tsp salt
6-8 apples, peeled, cored and quartered

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375
stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Cut in shortening and blend until resembles corn meal.
Add milk and stir until soft and flour disappears.
Roll out to 1/4" thick and cut into squares.
Place 1 apple onto each square and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over apple. Wrap dough around apple and seal edges with water. Pierce each dumpling with a fork 2-3 times. Place in 13 x 9" pan and bake 40 minutes

Gram's apple dumplings are a special childhood memory. Sometimes I would eat one for a meal. I always poured milk over them. Since our Dad was a milk delivery man we put milk on everything-even jello!
