36-40 littlneck clams, cleaned and scrubbed
2 lg onions, peeled, halved and thinly sliced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped
1/2 tsp dried red pepper flakes
3/4 C dry white wine
1/2 C water
2 tbsp minced fresh garlic
1 1/2 chopped canned tomatoes in heavy pruee
1 stick butter, cut up
3 scallions cut into julienne
1 lemon cut into 6 wedges

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 500F. Place clams in a single layer in a baking dish. Scatter all the remaining ingredients except the scallions and lemon wedges over the clams. Roast the clams for 9 min; turn them and roast for about 9 min longer. Discard and that don't open. To serve, place 6 clams in each bowl and divide the broth among them. Serve piping hot garnished with scallions and lemon wedges.
