1-1/2 to 2 lbs. of flank steak, in 1 piece
4 carrots, sliced
4 pieces of turnip or rutabaga
2 to 4 potatoes, cut in quarters
1 onion, cut in small pieces
Salt and pepper
Water or beef broth

Directions:
Directions:
Brown steak on both sides. Put steak in bottom of pot and put vegetables on top of it. Salt and pepper ingredients in pot. Cover with water or beef broth. If using water adding beef bouillon gives it more flavor. Bring to a boil and then turn heat to low and simmer for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. The slow cooking makes the meat very tender.
