1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Mix 1/4 c. sugar and cinnamon together and set aside. Beat the shortening, butter and sugar together and add eggs, beating some more. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Roll in sugar cinnamon mixture. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until centers are almost set.. Remove to wire rack to cool. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
