French Dressing or Basic Vinaigrette
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
4 T grated Parmesan cheese
2 tsp capers, slightly mashed into the dressing
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped or smashed garlic
1 T finely chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1/4 cup chopped black olives
Freshly grounded black pepper
8 cups cooked pasta, bow ties, rotini or large shells(16 oz. dry)

Cook pasta according to pasta directions.
Let cool completely.
Combine all remaining the ingredients in a large bowl.
Toss pasta with remaining ingredients until mixed.

I created this pasta salad to bring to a potluck BBQ at a friend's house. It is a perfect with fried chicken or grilled steaks. It is very popular at any function I take it to. I vary the ingredients depending on what I have in my refrigerator.
