c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 large egg (beaten)
c. to 1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
tsp. soda
tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the shortening; add sugar, egg, and then the rest of the ingredients. Mix well and make into 2 rolls (about 1"). Wrap rolls in waxed aper and chill overnght in refrigerator. Slice into about rounds and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

These are white when done. If they get brown, they are hard. Makes about 4 to 5 dozen.
