Great northern beans
1 tsp. soda
ham hock or bacon
1 onion, quartered

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans overnight or most of the day. Bring them to a rolling boil then add 1 tsp. soda and let boil 5 to 10 minutes longer. Drain and wash well.

Return to pot and cover with at least 2 inches of water, salt and seasoning (ham hock or bacon and quartered onion). cook 1-2 hours until beans are tender, sirring occasionally.
