2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
1 cup shortening
1 cup strong coffee
1 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger
raisins and nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Mix dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, alternating with coffee. Add nuts and raisins. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until it tastes done. To make frosting, boil 2 cups brown sugar with 1/2 cup cream for 4 minutes. Set in cold ice water and beat until it is spreading consistency. Be prepared to add a few drops of cream should it harden.
