1 cup sugar
4 tsp vinegar
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp flavoring, peppermint, vanilla, etc.

Directions:
Directions:
Gently boil ingredients while constantly stirring. Cook until a spoonful of mixture forms a hardball when dropped into cool water. Pour the mixture onto a buttered platter and turn edges in again and again as it cools. This is the time to work in 2 tsp of vanilla, lemon or mint flavoring. When the taffy is cool enough to handle, butter your hands and pull the candy out into long strips, fold together and repeat over and over until it stars to break apart. Cut into pieces and wrap in waxed paper.
