3/4 c. soft shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses (dark)
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 tsp. ground ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, egg and molasses, then add dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Place about 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375. Cool on waxed paper.
