Ingredients:  
1 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
2 slightly beaten egg whites

Icing:
2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. desired flavoring, almond, butter etc
few drops of desired food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 4 ingredients. Mix flour and salt and add to mixture. Roll into balls about the size of walnuts. Dip into egg whites and roll in nuts. Place on a cookie sheet. Make a thumbprint in the center of each ball. Bake at appr. 275º for about 8-10 minutes. Remove immediately from cookie sheet to keep from breaking cookie and place on waxed paper to cool. When cooled, fill with small amt. of powdered sugar icing.
