1 1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons pure almond extract
2/3 cup milk
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp double acting baking powder
1 stick butter or margarine (melted)

Spray pan with cooking spray and preheat oven to
350 º
Beat well the first 4 ingredients, Add flour and baking powder and then the melted butter mix well.

Bake at 350 º for 40-50 minutes. Edges must be golden brown. Cool in pan before removing. Cake will break if removed too soon. Sprinkle with confectionary sugar.

Variation: Before pouring batter into pan, sprinkle sliced almonds on the bottom. Also can be sprinkled with decorating sugars or vanilla sugar.

This recipe was given to me by a co-worker, I purchased the special loaf pan to make this in and the recipe was included with the pan. I have often doubled the recipe and made it in a bundt pan. I believe this would work out nicely in a torte pan and then fruit could be added on top.
