This is a seven day process.
10 Med. Cucumbers
Powdered Alum
Syrup:
8 Cups of Sugar
5 Tsp. Salt
2 Tbsp. Mixed Pickling Spice (put in cheese cloth)
4 Cups Vinegar
Green Food Coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Day 1: Cover whole cucumbers with boiling water and let stand overnight.
Day 2: Drain. Use fresh water, bring to a boil and add a scant teaspoon of powdered alum and pour over pickles and let soak overnight.
Day 3: Repeat 2nd Day. Day 4: Repeat 2nd Day.
Day 5: Drain and cut into pieces. Make syrup and pour over cucumbers. Let stand for days 6 and 7.
Syrup: Combine sugar, salt, vinegar and spice bag in a saucepan and bring to boil.
Day 7: Heat to almost boiling and bottle.
