2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 square unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 T. milk

Sift first three ingredients together, set asides. Combine shortening & sugar until fluffy. Blend in chocolate and vanilla. Beat egg in. Stir in flour mixture and blend well. Stir in nuts and milk. Mix well. Roll into a log and cover with waxed paper.
Chill several hours or overnight. Slice 1/8 inch thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 15 minutes. 350 º oven. Cool on rack. Makes 3 dozen medium size cookies. Store tightly covered.
