1 C butter
1/2 C each white and brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
2 C flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp.. baking powder
12 oz. chocolate chips
1 C chopped nuts
1 C brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream 1 cup butter with 1/2 cup each white and brown sugar - add the yolks of 2 eggs (save the whites).
Sift together 2 cups flour, 1/4 tea. salt, 1/2 tea. baking powder and combine with cream mixture.
SPREAD into 9 x 13" baking pan.
sprinkle with 12 oz. chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped nuts.
BEAT 3 egg whites to stiff peaks and add 1 cup brown sugar and pinch of baking powder.
SPREAD carefully atop chips and nuts so as not to dis-lodge them.
BAKE 7 minutes at 350º - lower temp. to 300º and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
