1 cup split peas
1 tbsp. butter or oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 chopped celery
1/2 chopped turnip
1/2 tsp. marjoram
dash nutmeg
dash white pepper
1 qt. chicken broth

1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 - 1 tsp. horseradish
1/2 tsp. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In large pot, saute vegetables in oil till tender, about 5 - 8 minutes. Add peas, seasoning and stock. Heat to boiling, reduce heat to simmer. Cover and simmer just till peas are soft, about 30 minutes. Pour into blender and blend till smooth. Blend sour cream, horseradish, and sugar. Top serving with a dollop of horseradish cream.

Be careful when blending hot peas. I only fill my blender half full and blend on low. Otherwise, it may explode out.
