Ginger Bread, Hot Water Recipe

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 t. cloves
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. ginger
1/2 t. salt
1 c. hot water

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg, beat. Add molasses and dry ingredients sifted together and a little hot water. When smooth, add the rest of the hot water slowly and beat long enough to blend.

Bate 45 to 50 minutes in 350 oven.
