1 1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup quick oatmeal
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp soda
1/3 tsp salt
1 T cinnamon

Icing Ingredients
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup coconut
6 T margarine
2 T cream or milk
1 tsp vanilla

Pour boiling water over oatmeal mix with fork and let stand for 20 minutes. Cream sugars and shortening together. Add eggs & mix well. Add oatmeal to sugar mixture & mix well. Add flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Pour into a 9" x 13" greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 until test done with toothpick. While cake is baking make icing. Mix all the ingredients except nuts and coconut and bring to a boil. Add nuts and coconut and spread over hot cake.
