1 German chocolate cake mix
Filling:
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. chocolate chips
canned frosting of your choice

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour into cupcake holders, only fill 2/3 full. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add egg and beat until well blended. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop 1 tbsp. of mixture on top of raw cupcakes. Bake at 350 F for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool and frost.

Mom would always make these for the 4th of July when we would go to Greenbush to watch the parade, and then have a picnic in the park.
