1 head lettuce, torn into small pieces
1/2 c. chopped celery
1 red onion, sliced into thin rings
1 can water chestnuts, sliced
10 oz. frozen peas, thawed and drained
2 c. mayonnaise
2 T. sugar
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
8 slices bacon, fried & crumbled

Directions:
Directions:
Layer lettuce, celery, onion & water chestnuts in a salad bowl or 9x13 pan. Sprinkle sugar over onion layer, frost with mayonnaise. Add cheese, peas, and bacon in layers. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours (overnight is better) before serving.
