1 1/2 c water
1 c oats
1/2 c shortening
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c flour
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t cloves
1/2 t nutmeg
1 t soda
1/2 t salt
1/2 nuts

Frosting
1 c brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks butter or oleo
1 T milk
1 c cocoanut
1 c nuts
1 t vanilla

Directions:

Boil water and pour over oats. Let cool! Cream shortening, brown sugar and eggs. Sift four, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg. spda and salt. Mix with creamed mixture alternately. Add nuts and mix oatmeal in batter. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes in 9X13 pan.

Frosting
Melt brown sugar, butter and milk Cook til it comes to a boil then add cocoanut and nuts with vanilla. Pour on cake while hot and broil 2-3 minutes until brown.
