1 1/4 c. boiling water,
1 c. old-fashioned oats,
1/2 c. butter or margarine,
2 eggs,
1 c. brown sugar,
1 1/3 c. flour,
1/2 tsp. salt,
1 tsp. nutmeg,
1 tsp. cinnamon,
1 tsp. soda,
1 tsp. vanilla,
Nuts, raisins and dates, as desired

Topping:

1/2 c. evaporated milk,
1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted,
1/4 c. brown sugar,
1 c. shredded coconut,
3/4 c. pecans, chopped.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Pour boiling water over oats and butter. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Mix eggs, sugar and brown sugar and add to oat mixture. Add remaining ingredients and thoroughly combine. Spray 9"x13" pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

Add topping while cake is still warm.
