1 (8 oz) pkg chopped dates
1/2 cup walnuts
1 3/4 cups boiling water
2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp melted butter
1 egg

-Soak chopped dates in the boiling water

-In large mixing bowl combine flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda, vanilla, butter, and egg

-Add water from dates and mix

-Add dates and walnuts

-Mixture will be soupy

-Bake at 350 for 1 hour in a greased 9" loaf pan
