2 cups rye flour
3 cups warm water
1/4 cup fat or oil
2 pkgs yeast
1 tsp anise seed
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup brown sugar
About 6 cups white flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Put fat, salt, sugar and molasses into a large bowl. Add water, flour, rye to make a thin batter. Add yeast and white flour to make a stiff dough. Knead well and return to greased bowl. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and shape into loaves and let rise in pans about 45 minutes. Bake in 350º oven for 35-40 minutes.
