French Onion Soup Recipe

6 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
4 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
6 cups beef broth
1/2 tsp. salt, to taste
1 baguette, sliced into 1" pieces, toasted
12 oz. smoked swiss cheese, grated

Directions:
Directions:
Heat butter in large pot over medium low heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally until golden brown, about 40 minutes. Sprinkle onions with flour, salt and cook stirring 3 minutes. Slowly add beef broth, increasing heat to medium-high and bring soup to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Preheat broiler to high heat. Place rack 4" from heat source. Divide soup among 6 bowls. Top each with 1" piece of baguette. Sprinkle with cheese and broil 3 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbling.
